Aarsleff Rail Begins Major South Jutland Track Renewal

In collaboration with our German partner Spitzke SE, we are carrying out extensive track works between Fredericia and Padborg this autumn.

In mid-summer, we signed the contract – and we have already started work on the Fredericia-Padborg track renewal.

The agreement covers track renewal and bridge works on three sections: Fredericia–Taulov, Vamdrup–Lunderskov, and Vojens–Rødekro, with a total value of approximately DKK 98 million. Thomas Mollerup, CEO of Aarsleff Rail, states:
“The contract includes a very wide range of tasks requiring expertise in virtually all railway disciplines: track, earthworks, drainage, ballast, structures, signaling, and overhead lines. We have successfully handled similar projects for Banedanmark before, most recently with the renewals on East Funen and Slagelse–Korsør.”

High demands on project management and railway safety
Aarsleff Rail performs the majority of the tasks, while our German partner Spitzke SE handles track alignment and works requiring the use of track renewal trains. The partnership has been in place since 2015, when we first carried out a series of track renewal projects for Banedanmark.
“These projects have demonstrated our ability to collaborate internally as well as with the client and other stakeholders. Our projects have been delivered on time, and the strong results confirm that our strategic partnership offers a relevant combination of technical know-how and professional project management,” says CEO Thomas Mollerup.

Most of the work will be completed by the end of November 2025.

Overview of the tasks

  • Fredericia – Taulov: The project includes, among other things, the construction of a new track bed with lateral track relocation, 3,350 meters of ballast cleaning, track lowering at a bridge, and the installation of four new overhead line portals.
  • Vamdrup – Lunderskov: Here we will carry out approximately five kilometers of rail/sleeper replacement and ballast cleaning, as well as works on two bridges.
  • Vojens – Rødekro: On the longest section, the works include track lowering and sheet piling at a road crossing, sleeper replacement and a new track bed, as well as work on an additional bridge.
