Diversity

Why is it important?

A high degree of diversity and inclusion contributes to creating the best and most competitive teams and workplaces.

Our workforce is characterized by broad diversity, and we need skilled and talented employees to achieve Aarsleff Rail’s strategic goal: creating societal value with a focus on sustainability and performance that matches the best comparable companies in our industry.

How do we achieve this?

We strive to be a responsible workplace that recruits, promotes, and develops employees based on competencies while actively supporting diversity.

This means that our recruitment, employment conditions, promotions, and, if necessary, dismissals are carried out without regard to gender, sexual orientation, age, nationality, physical disabilities, political beliefs, ethnicity, family status, religious beliefs, or ideology.

How we work with diversity

We continuously strive to ensure diversity among both leaders and employees. This work is based on the following principles and initiatives:

Principles:

  • We aim to provide equal opportunities at all levels of the organization.
  • We want to be an attractive and inclusive workplace, regardless of an employee’s background, education, experience, career stage, or position.
  • We seek to accommodate personal circumstances whenever possible, such as starting a family, preparing for retirement, or experiencing life-changing events.
  • We recognize our social responsibility and strive to provide opportunities for employees with special needs, particular challenges, or permanent disabilities to further develop their potential.
  • We aim for a balanced workforce with both young and experienced employees, fostering mutual learning, education, and development.

Initiatives:

  • We train our leaders in inclusive leadership and in recognizing and addressing unconscious biases that may hinder diversity.
  • We ensure gender-neutral pay.
  • We are part of the Aarsleff Group’s diversity committee, chaired by the CEO of the Aarsleff Group, which is responsible for advancing diversity efforts.
  • We have signed DI’s Gender Diversity Pledge and adhere to its 16 principles.

DI’s diversity pledge

We aim to create a workplace where all employees feel welcome, respected, and have equal opportunities for development and advancement regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, political beliefs, sexual orientation, disability, and national or social background.

We work dedicatedly and purposefully with DI’s Diversity Pledge, with a particular focus on principles 3, 5, and 12:

  • Diversity Pledge 3: Equal access to career opportunities
  • Diversity Pledge 5: Measuring and tracking data
  • Diversity Pledge 12: Leaders as role models and culture bearers

The more diversity we have in our workforce, the better our employees can complement each other’s viewpoints and identify potential risks from different perspectives.

Vision

By the end of 2028, we aim to achieve the following gender diversity targets:

  • At least 25% female leaders in production
  • At least 30% women in production overall
  • A 50/50 gender balance in support functions

We are committed to creating a culture where different perspectives are valued and used constructively. Additionally, we aim to reduce the frequency of offensive behavior to below 3% for Aarsleff Rail Denmark.
