Meet Andreas
Interlocking Technician
Andreas Kruhøffer
Andreas celebrated seven years in the Interlocking Department at Aarsleff Rail in November 2024. He originally joined as an electrician and soon after trained as an interlocking technician. When he started, the department had around 20 people, but both the team and the company have grown significantly since then.
“The railway industry is unique, but interlocking is a niche—more of a lifestyle than just a job,” Andreas explains. “Our team is incredibly close-knit, built on trust and friendship. We know we can rely on each other, and that makes a huge difference in our daily work.” For Andreas and his colleagues, this strong sense of community is key to job satisfaction and loyalty. Coworkers are more than just colleagues—they are friends, and many spend time together outside of work.
A typical day as an interlocking technician presents a variety of challenges, requiring both technical expertise and flexibility. “The best part of the job is its diversity. I get to see parts of Denmark I would never experience otherwise, which makes the work both exciting and rewarding.” With access to ongoing training, Andreas has built a solid technical foundation and continuously updates his skills. He values this professional development, as it enables him to tackle complex technical tasks with confidence.
Outside of work, Andreas is a father of two young children. With family as his top priority, maintaining a work-life balance has become increasingly important. “When I first started, work took up most of my time, but now it’s about finding the right balance so I can be present at home too.” This shift in priorities led him to step down from his role as a union representative to focus more on his family.
Andreas appreciates the flexibility and respect for individual needs at his workplace. “My manager understands if I need to say no—we never leave anyone behind, but there’s always support when personal priorities need to come first,” he says.
For Andreas, his job at Aarsleff Rail is more than just work—it’s a community that makes every day meaningful and inspiring.
