Aarsleff Rail extends the facility management contract with DSB

For the past five years, the Aarsleff Group has been responsible for the maintenance and service of buildings and technical installations at more than 400 stations in Denmark. The contract with DSB is now extended for an additional two years
The tasks are varied, but overall, it is about ensuring that passengers at the more than 400 DSB stations across Denmark are met with inviting departure halls and platforms. The contract includes, among other things, the replacement of lighting so that energy consumption and light levels meet today’s requirements, as well as a contingency plan that ensures ticket machines function and repairs, for example after vandalism, are carried out.
A wide range of tasks
The tasks are just some of those that Aarsleff Rail A/S, with good help from its sister company Wicotec Kirkebjerg A/S, has carried out for DSB over the past five years, and where DSB has now taken the opportunity to extend the contract for an additional two years.
“Facility management contracts are a good supplement to our more project-heavy business, and we are pleased that we can continue the good cooperation with DSB. Our tasks are very varied, ranging from maintenance of electrical systems to pest control and 24-hour staffing of the monitoring center. For us, it is about delivering good and fast service to DSB and the passengers, regardless of where in Denmark the station is located,” says department director Thomas Kristensen from Aarsleff Rail.

Good cooperation continues
Today, Aarsleff Rail and Wicotec Kirkebjerg have approximately 50 technicians associated with the contract. These include technicians with backgrounds as electricians and HVAC technicians, but also specially trained employees who are able to solve the unique tasks in DSB’s own systems, such as ticket machines and monitoring. In addition, the two companies have approximately 25 administrative employees ready in the service center, who also handle phone inquiries from the many daily users at stations across the country.
“Our skilled employees serve in multiple roles as DSB’s representatives to the train passengers, and they understand the importance of delivering good and personal service. Additionally, we have a large and dedicated organization spread across the country, so we are well-positioned to service DSB’s buildings and infrastructure in a professional manner and leverage our strong competencies in technical installations, digitalization, railway safety, and management,” says Thomas Kristensen.
The extension of the contract thus provides the opportunity to continue delivering the service that DSB’s customers expect.
“DSB’s promise to customers is that they should have a safe journey. Safety requires, among other things, that the platforms appear clean and welcoming, and that the lighting at the station works. With this extension, we can continue the work of improving our stations and ensuring that they meet the high standards we have set,” says Lars Gøtke, Director of DSB Properties.
