Modernization of stations for Bane NOR

The transport needs in Trøndelag are growing, and there is a need to develop space-efficient and environmentally friendly transport solutions. The railway is a central part of the solution to achieve the goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
On Tuesday, December 17, Aarsleff Rail AS and Bane NOR signed a contract as the main contractor for the railway development at Verdal and Sparbu.
Extensive work At Sparbu station, a new crossing track for passenger trains, a new side platform, and a grade-separated crossing in the form of an overpass will be built. The station will also be prepared for the introduction of a new digital signaling system, ERTMS. The contract includes work at both stations and has a value of 142 million.
At Verdal station, the existing middle platform and storage tracks will be removed. Track 2 will be adjusted, and a new side platform will be established. Here, track 3 will be reestablished, and the station will be upgraded and prepared for ERTMS.
The project is BREEAM-certified, which means that the work will be carried out with minimal impact on the surroundings.
Both projects are planned to start at the turn of March – April.
