Lund Light Rail System

Aarsleff Rail AB was responsible for all trackwork on the 5.5 km dual-track light rail line, which connects central Lund and the railway station with the new European Science Center, ESS.

The Lund Light Rail, which opened in 2020, provides green and comfortable transport for residents and employees. The system was designed to meet future transportation needs and to create opportunities for urban development.

Project Summary

The light rail runs its entire length separated from other traffic and is designed as a ‘green track’ for 80% of its route.

The track consists of reinforced slab track, featuring:

  • Two separate longitudinal concrete slabs
  • Grooved rail sections connected every 3 meters with a steel profile
